This is how the Group A table looks after match-day 2

The whistle sounds at Parc des Princes and a historic win on the night Leo Messi gets his first goal for PSG.

PSG fans in full voice now celebrating a famous win. Club Brugge and Leipzig remains 1-2 and these results would see City fall to third in the group.

Cty now void of ideas as PSG make a change ...Gueye the goalscorer to be replaced and Danilo comes on for the final few minutes.

88

PSG poised to make another switch as the clock ticks down towards the 90 minute mark.

Mahrez looks for a way through but a wall of navy shirts impede his progression.

Messi clipped by Gabriel Jesus and the Brazilian gets a ticking off from the Spanish match official.

PSG will next face RB Leipzig with City facing Club Brugge and incidentally that game remains 1-2 in Germany.

Less than ten minutes remain here in Paris and it looks like the points will be staying in the city of light....

Liverpool tonking Porto. 5-1 now.

Mahrez latches onto a dangerous ball from Silva, but once again Donnarumma was alert and saved well again.

City too make another change with Jesus on for Sterling.

and with that the Italian leaves the action and will be replaced by former Liverpool man Wijnaldum

Verratti carded for a lunge on Sterling.

City huffed and puffed but were unable to break down the PSG house....

One from the Greatest hits collection there from Messi with a give-go goal that we saw all to often at FC Barcelona.

Neymar

Neymar gets attention after a knock during the Group A clash at Parc des Princes

71

Good delivery from Foden as he slides the ball across the face of the goal and Kimpembe clears. Foden opting to ping the ball in quickly whereas Grealish tended to elaborate with the ball.

Foden on for Grealish (MCFC change)

68

It's been a second half dominated by City with Grealish looking to wave into a shooting position. City just can't find that through ball and creative edge to outfox the PSG rear-guard who have been excellent.

65

Neymar into the side netting with the Brazilian under pressure from Walker. PSG showing what they can do on the counter.

63

City enjoying all the possession with PSG sitting a little too deep, a little too soon.

A spot of the magic spray and the Brazilian seems to be able to continue.

Neymar is on the floor and appear to be in trouble after a clash with Rodri.

Rodri pulls Gueye and PSG take a breather. Still no changes as we approach the hour mark.

56

Grealish beats Hakimi but this time the ball was blocked by a PSG man. City the better side now with PSG looking for the pace of Neymar and Mbappe to strike on the break.

Decent little tussle developing between Hakimi and Jack Grealish with the Moroccan side getting the better once again of the former Villa man. De Bryune goes close as Donnarumma saves with his feet.

City very much the dominant side here in the second half. PSG sitting deep and happy to soak up the pressure. Ferran Torres too now warming up for City.

50

City retain the ball now and Cancelo doing his best to feed through balls to the pace of Sterling.

Messi has moved to a more central role for PSG now at the start of this second half... The Argentine was playing in a right handed area during the first 45'.

Sterling goes close and screws his shot past the post. Early danger from the English side.

Foden and Gabriel Jesus warming up for the visitors.

PSG get the half underway

The teams make their way back to the Parc des Princes pitch ... no changes it would appear after the break.

City have been solid in the first 45 but it's been an excellent team performance from PSG, with a solid defensive performance, Donnarumma looking solid and Verratti excellent in the centre of the park.

PSG looking very composed just as the whistle sounds to herald the interval. Idrissa Gana Gueye with the only goal of the game in the 8th minute

Scores on the doors at half-time

Real Madrid 0-1 Sheriff Tiraspol

Porto 0-2 Liverpool

AC Milan 1-0 Atlético Madrid

PSG 1-0 Man City

Dortmund 0-0 Sporting

Leipzig 1-2 Brugge

RB Leipzig 1-2 Brugge in the other Group A game at the interval with the Belgian side coming behind to lead in Germany.

We're going to have 4 minutes of time added on here in Paris.

With all the focus on the PSG front-line, defensively the Ligue 1 side has looked excellent tonight.

44

Dias heads but straight at Donnarumma. City still probing for that equaliser that they possibly deserve.

We're back underway after the stoppage. Final minutes of the half in what's been a very even contest with chances for both sides.

41

Gueye is going to be stretchered from the pitch... PSG warming up a series of subs as the man from Dakar seems to be able to walk off the pitch for further attention.

The goal scorer seems to be in some distress as the Belgian rattles right into the PSG man's ankle.

PSG go close as Mbappe finds Herrera and Ederson tips over. De Bruyne carded as he clashes with Gueye.

Good news for PSG fans as Mendes looks okay to continue.

Messi

The PSG No. 30 in action tonight at Parc des Princes

Scores on the doors after 35 minutes

Real Madrid 0-1 Sheriff Tiraspol

Porto 0-1 Liverpool

AC Milan 1-0 Atlético Madrid

PSG 1-0 Man City

Dortmund 0-0 Sporting

Leipzig 1-1 Brugge

Nuno Mendes goes to ground and seems to be in trouble

Sterling looks for Mahrez but too high for the Algerian ... back into the PSG box but easy for Donnarumma to gather. Neymar shoots at the other end but rifles the ball high and wide. The Brazilian looks rather unhappy !

33

Good work from Sterkling who looks for De Bryune but the ball is cut out by Kimpembe.

32

City edging things slightly possession wise but it's the men from Paris who lead with the Gueye goal the difference between the sides as Cancelo tests Donnarumma who does well in getting down to gather.

City pushing now and the English side enjoying the latest spell of possession as Laporte goes down and looks for a spot kick. Spanish referee waves the Basque man away.

City hit the crossbar twice in quick succession with Sterling and Silva rattling the woodwork. Should have been a goal from the Portugal man with the goal at his mercy.

26

Still no real save of note from either keeper with both sides disciplined in their defensive duties.

Cancelo carded for a trip on Mbappe.

23

Verratti has been a colossal for PSG in the middle. No surprise that Pochettino was so anxious to get the Italian back in the side as he's been at the heart of all PSG's build-up play.

21

Better from City now as the English side move the ball with Grealish on the left and Mahrez on the right looking to make inroads. Stout defending from the home side with Nuno Mendes looking impressive. Best spell of the game for City.

Leipzig take the lead against Club Brugge in the other Group A clash being played tonight. Nkunku with the goal for the German outfit.

Mohamed Salah has scored for Liverpool against Porto. (0-1).

City win a corner after decent work from Mahrez....

17

We've seen a few fancy flicks from Neymar but the Brazilian has been unable to make any form of impression so far on tonight's game.

14

Mahrez takes the ball to the byline but Donnarumma is there to tip away.

Scores on the doors after 15 minutes

No goals anywhere apart from PSG’s opener against Man City and Leipzig’s against Brugge.

Real Madrid 0-0 Sheriff Tiraspol

Porto 0-0 Liverpool

AC Milan 0-0 Atlético Madrid

PSG 1-0 Man City

Dortmund 0-0 Sporting

Leipzig 1-0 Brugge

Ed Sheeran in the Parisian capital tonight watching this Group A clash ! New album imminent from the Ipswich born song-man so good to be in the public eye!

12

City rattled as PSG retain the ball and deprive their guests from Manchester to try and secure a foothold back in the contest

Flares are ignited by the PSG hardcore celebrating the opening goal. It was a Neymar error that lead the ball falling to Gueye and the Senegalese international drilled the ball into the corner with a thunderbolt.

8

Gooooool. PSG take the lead and Idrissa Gana Gueye rifles the ball into the roof of the City net

7

PSG now starting to get to grips with the game and enjoy a brief spell of possession. Decent tempo to the action with both sides keen to move the ball around on the surface.

5

Messi on the ball as a cheer of expectation rings out... Laporte alert to avert the danger and intercept.

2

De Bruyne free kick but Marquinhos was level to the delivery and heads away.

PSG beat Montpellier at the weekend with City too recording a huge win away to Chelsea. The Parisian side are unstoppable in the domestic league with eight wins from eight and their only blemish coming in match-day 1 of the UCL with a 1-1 draw with Club Brugge in Belgium.

1

Both teams take the knee and we're all set... City get the action underway...

Quick reminder of the teams as kick-off looms....

A hell of a noise being made inside Parc des Princes tonight with the Auteuil end in fine voice.

The teams take to the pitch .... PSG in their classic navy blue as the PSG hardcore fans unveil a 'tifo' featuring the club's old logo. City tonight in white as the Champions League anthem rings out at 'Le Parc'

All set in the Parisian capital. Both clubs desperate to lift the Champions League trophy with the title very much the key aspiration for both ownership groups. Despite this being 'just' a group game, both teams are strongly fancied to advance from Group A and finishing top for the Round of 16 and (on paper) avoiding a stronger side will be key for both PSG and City.

For many fans, tonight's game is a 'clasico' of football's 'nouveau riche' with both clubs heavily funded and supported by two oil rich nations with Sheikh Mansour, owner of Manchester City and the City Football Group a member of UAE royal family. Qatar too are owned by Middle Eastern royalty with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, PSG's owner since 2011 through state-run shareholding organization Qatar Sports Investments.

Ref

PSG-City: referee

Carlos del Cerro Grande (Spain) is tonight's match official with the 45-year-old from Alcala de Henares (Madrid) an international referee since 2013.

Pochettino pre game: The Argentine on Mbappé-Neymar tension

Paris St Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has played down media reports of a spat between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar during their 2-0 Ligue 1 win over Montpellier at the weekend.

French media reported Mbappe was unhappy with Neymar for not passing the ball to him and that the France international was then seen voicing his displeasure to a team mate on the bench.

"They're fantastic guys. These things happen," Pochettino told reporters ahead of tonight''s Champions League game against Manchester City.

"There are always things between top players. They're competitors who want to win and help the team achieve.

"I have spoken to them individually. They may have also spoken to each other and there have been photos of them enjoying themselves in training. "If there's a small incident sometimes that can create a wave but it's actually just talk."

Interesting to see Pochettino opting to start both Marco Verratti and Leo Messi with both players making a return to the starting XI after injury! Would be surprised if the pair last the 90 minutes.

L1

PSG rampant in Ligue 1

The Parisian side have started their domestic campaign strongly with the Parisian giants winning eight from eight and already hold a substantial advantage over RC Lens in second place.

Pep

Guardiola pre-game

Pep Guardiola freely admitted he has no master plan in mind to contain Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe when Manchester City meet Paris Saint-Germain.

Assuming Messi is fit to feature, this match will be the first time he has gone up against his former boss Guardiola since the six-time Ballon d'Or winner departed Barcelona in August.

Although Messi was handed his Barcelona breakthrough by Frank Rijkaard, it was under Guardiola that he truly established himself among the best in the world.

"This type of player speaks for himself on the pitch," Guardiola told a news conference on Monday. "I don't have to add anything else. "[Messi leaving Barça] was a surprise for everyone, but it happened and everyone accepts it.

Manchester City confirm their starting XI

Messi

Still waiting for the definitive team news but Lionel Messi has been included in Paris St Germain's squad for tonight's Champions League Group A clash after missing the team's last two Ligue 1 games with a bruised knee.

The Argentine forward will feature in a squad that also includes Italy midfielder Marco Verratti, who is back after four games out with a knee injury.

PSG are second in the group after their initial 1-1 draw at Club Brugge. City are first after hammering RB Leipzig 6-3.

Tonight's game is a repeat of the 2020/21 semi-final where it was the English side progressed to the final where a solitary goal from Kai Havertz in Porto was enough to see Chelsea beat City in the final.

PSG were also involved in a Portuguese final with the Ligue 1 side reaching the delayed final played in the Lisbon bubble in 2020 and once again, a single goal from Bayern Munich was enough for the Bundesliga giants to lift the trophy.
