Juventus 1-0 Chelsea summary: score, goal, highlights, 2021/22 Champions League Group H

Juventus 1-0 Chelsea: Champions League Group H as it happened

In match that was more tactical than it was thrilling, two giants of European football went head to head. It was defending UEFA Champions League champions Chelsea against Juventus in Group H. The home side from Turin came into the game with some important absences in attack with both Dybala and Morata out. Yet it seems as if head coach Massimo Allegri relished the challenge. The Italian orchestrated a counter attacking game to perfection against the side from London.

Through Cuadrado, Benadeschi and the ever willing Frederico Chiesa, Juventus took full advantage of their limited possession as they showed signs of danger with each error that they forced out of Chelsea.

The sides went into the break with the score at 0-0 but it would only take mere seconds after the restart for the Benadeschi and Chiesa to link up after a brilliant pass into the box by the former and a sensational finish by the latter.

With this result the Italians now sit at the top of the group with 6 points from 2 games and surely be favored to make it 9 from 3 when they travel to Zenit next.

Chelsea enjoyed the lion's share but in the end it was Juventus who made it count.

Lukaku is having a tough one in the office.

The defending champion, however, will want to review their current game plan. They have dominated possession but have largely looked void of ideas when trying to break down the team from Turin.

Chiesa has arguably been the one player on the field so far who has shown an intensity and desire to win. Juventus will be hoping to exploit the space that he has been finding down the flank.

In a half that has seen very little given on either side, the best opportunity came after a stray Chelsea pass allowed Frederico Chiesa to go on a break down the right flank, eventually whisking his shot wide of the Chelsea far post.

Chelsea continue their dominance this time with Lukaku finally getting on the ball but his shot is blocked.

15

Kovacivic tries to find Marco Alonso but only finds Juventus player. The counter attack fails after Rabiot plays a stray pass with no pressure on.

14

Chelsea are of course without N'Golo Kante who recently tested positive for covid-19 though with the way their midfield is handling Juventus at the moment, it doesn't show.

Remember this one?

Tuchel shows his hand!

Juventus are in fact facing a bit of an injury problem as they will have to do without the services of a handful of players.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri will have to implement an interesting tactical approach as he is without his two main goal threats, Alvaro Morata and Paolo Dybala. The Argentine specifically seems set for a lengthy period on the sidelines after leaving the field in tears during Juventus' last match - a victory over Sampdoria.

The starting lineups are in as we get ready for UEFA Champions League Group H Action!

In what could be one of the more intriguing clashes of the round, tonight's Group H clash brings together a Juventus side that is due a solid performance amid turmoil and defending champions Chelsea who seem to be just getting warmed up.

Almost game time!

Chelsea on the other hand are a direct contrast. The defending UEFA Champions League Champions are a team coming into their own. Though they will carry a grudge after their last game, a loss to Manchester City, they have lost only three games in their last 32 fixtures in the Champions League and will enter the game knowing that a win in Turin will take them to the top of Group H. Thomas Tuchel's men currently sit 3rd in the Premier League and know they are on the up.

Juventus vs Chelsea: welcome

Good evening and a very warm welcome to you as we take you through this UEFA Champions League Group H clash between Juventus and Chelsea. The Italians come into this game on the back of their worst start in to a season in 60 years. To add another layer of context, they most recently had their monopoly over Serie A broken by new champions Inter Milan. If that wasn't enough, they are a team without a talisman. Having seen a large share of their goals scored significantly reduced with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester United, it could be said that Juventus are a team in transition.
