BARCELONA

Guti: "Would I take the Barcelona job? Sure, why not?"

The ex-Real Madrid player says he wouldn't rule out the chance to coach Barça in the future: "I want to coach and I'd like to show people I've got what it takes".

Guti: "Would I take the Barcelona job? Sure, why not?"

Former Real Madrid player Guti was one of the guests at this evening's LaLiga Ambassadors' Gala and along with other invitees, he gave his thoughts on the situation at Barcelona with Ronald Koeman's job on the line.

Koeman: "It's a difficult situation. In many cases, poor results don't depend solely on the coach but he is the one who holds all of the responsibility. Barcelona aren't in good shape economically and it's a complicated position to be in".

Bringing in Xavi as the new coach: "The way Xavi coaches and how he was as a player, he would be brilliant. Going back to Barcelona would weigh on him for the feelings he has towards the club and it's a complicated situation to come back to".

Would you consider coaching Barcelona? "Sure, why not? I want to coach and show people that apart from being a player, I've got what it takes to succeed as a coach".

Guti wasn't the only guest to speak to the media at the gala - other former players gave their opinions on Barça's situation as well as that at their old clubs.

Patrick Kluivert

Koeman: "Barcelona are in a difficult moment - one which they have to come out of as soon as they possibly can. I haven't spoken to Ronald recently".

Change of coach: "Sacking the coach is the easiest solution. You need to give him a chance to work. You have to give him time to stablilise the team after so much upheaval and changes. The situation at Barcelona can only be resolved with results out on the pitch and I hope that process begins tomorrow".

Koeman said that Barcelona cannot aspire to win every trophy, as a former player, does it hurt to hear those words? "Pain is too strong a word. As a player, if a coach says something like that, it undermines his players. I'm sure that he has his reasons for saying that. The situation is difficult. They have to get out of this rut as quickly as they can".

Lack of support: "The club is supporting Koeman. He has brought in the players he wanted".

David Albelda

Koeman's situation: "Coaches depend on getting results. The results aren't coming and from the outside, it looks like he is being questioned".

Changing coach: "In football, the easiest option when there are problems is to change one person rather than 25. That's the option that most people go for most of the time. Not just to start getting better results out on the pitch, but also to revitalize the dressing room and change the atmosphere".

Fernando Hierro

Ancelotti: "He's a gentleman, a very endearing person. He's ideal for the club. The team will battle to win LaLiga and the Champions League, as always. But the fixtures calendar doesn't help them. The season's compressed. The team lack a little consistency but no team has that at this stage of the season".

Koeman: "I don't know what Barcelona should do. As a sportsman, I love it when everything is going well for everybody. As long as Madrid win... We've seen similar situations many times. Clubs go through phases. Maybe now is the moment to think about the future with those young teams".

Eto'o

Koeman: "Lets' leave it up to the board to decide what to do. For me, the most important thing is playing football, that's the best part. Players need to win and enjoy doing what they do".

Favourites tomorrow, Atleti or Barcelona? "From my point of view, Atlético have the best squad out of all of the clubs in LaLiga - including Barcelona. They are the favourites, but Barça is Barça, as always. The players will be playing for pride to show that they are still alive even though some have given up all hope on them".

Koeman's replacement: "That's for the board to decide".

Benzema: "Right now, he is the best forward".

Baptista

Vinicius: "You have to understand a little about how it's been for him. He needed time. He arrived at the club during a delicate moment, there was a lot of criticism. Now that time has passed, he no longer feels that pressure and he has matured, you can see the progression to his game".

McManaman

Mbappé: "I see Mbappé at Real Madrid next season. Why not?"
