Barcelona squad worth more than Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid squads
The CIES Football Observatory has compiled a list of the most valuable teams. The Premier League clubs have unsurprisingly come out on top.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have the most valuable squads in the world, according to the latest report published by the CIES Football Observatory. The list reveals the clubs who would raise the most money if they sold their players. Up to €1.28 billion could be earned by Man City if they sold their highly valuable players.
Spanish clubs
Barcelona are in fourth place on the list and rank as the most valuable Spanish club. The Camp Nou outfit have a squad with a market value of €896 million, a high price even after departure of Lionel Messi to PSG. Barça rivals Real Madrid are in seventh position, with a squad valued at €846 million. Reigning LaLiga champions Atlético Madrid have a squad worth €662 million and find themselves tenth on the CIES list.
PSG not in top five
PSG are surprisingly not among the top five most valuable teams in Europe's top five leagues. Despite having assets like Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, Messi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma, among others, the Ligue 1 side are nowhere near the English clubs.
Premier League contains most expensive stars
Ligue 1 ranks last among the top five major European leagues. The entire value of all the players who play in the French league amounts to €3.4 billion, a far cry from the Premier League, whose figure is €8.9 billion. The figure for the estimated value of all players in LaLiga amounts to €5.3 billion, a figure above Serie A and Germany's Bundesliga.
