Standout moments as Southgate celebrates five years as England manager
As England prepare to face Andorra in their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign, we look back at Southgate's five year tenure on the England bench.
Gareth Southgate inherited the England job back in 2016 replacing Sam Allardyce with confidence in the 'Three Lions' at a low ebb following their elimination at the hands of Iceland in Euro 2016.
In his time on the England bench, Southgate has taken his side to the finals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League finals, the semi-final of the Russia 2018 World Cup and more recently, the final of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament where the English side fell to Italy in a penalty shoot out.
With his calm manner and endearing personality, the 51-year-old has won over fans, media and members of the public alike and now has his sights set on a place at the 2022 Qatar World Cup next year as England prepare to face Andorra and Hungary.
