Club Brugge vs Manchester City: times, TV and how to watch online
All the information you need to watch the Champions League Group A clash between Club Brugge and Manchester City at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Club Brugge have already defied expectations in this season’s Champions League after just two games. A group featuring PSG, RB Leipzig and Manchester City did not appear too promising for the Belgian champions but a 1-1 draw at home against Messi, Neymar, Mbappé and company and a 2-1 away victory in the RB Arena has left Philippe Clement’s side second in Group A and in with a decent shout, on this form, of sneaking out of one of the toughest foursomes in this season’s competition.
Club Brugge vs Manchester City live online: scores, stats and updates
Club Brugge’s 1970s heyday reaped a runner-up showing in both the European Cup (1978) and the UEFA Cup (1976) but the Belgians have never been beyond the group stage since the inception of the Champions League and will relish the opportunity to do so at the expense of either PSG or City. The hosts are in decent shape going into the game against City: they have been beaten only once in the Belgian top flight this season and are yet to lose in Europe and in Ruud Vormer, who bagged both goals in a 2-0 victory over KV Kortrijk at the weekend, Clement has a striker who can trouble City’s back line on his day. Crucially for the Brugge boss, he also has no injury concerns ahead of Tuesday’s game.
Club Brugge seeking another European upset
City, meanwhile, have not had it all their way this season. Five wins from eight Premier League games is no cause for concern and Guardiola’s side are only two points off table-toppers Chelsea but an average of two goals per game is hardly the sort of crushing attacking prowess that has characterised the Spaniard’s tenure at the Etihad. It also suggests that Guardiola failure to land a goal-scoring striker in the summer could yet come back to haunt him, particularly if Ferran Torres faces a long lay-off after fracturing his foot on international duty with Spain.
A routine 2-0 victory over Burnley at the weekend lent to the momentum of coming from behind twice at Anfield to claim a 2-2 draw against Liverpool but Guardiola will be keenly aware that City are not scoring for fun at the moment and Club Brugge have made something of a habit of making life difficult for wealthier opponents in Europe of late, especially at home. With PSG hosting rock-bottom Leipzig at the Parc des Princes, there is little room for error for City in Bruges.
