According to Corriere dello Sport, the 29-year-old is thinking about going back to Ajax, the club where he developed as a young player and grew into the talent that made Tottenham pay 12 million euros for his services in 2013. That is a solution which would suit both the player and Inter. The Italians, who have financial problems, cannot continue paying Eriksen's 7.5 million euro salary for the next three years when he isn't playing.

Inter explained that under Italian law, players who have been fitted with implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) are prohibited from actively taking part in professional sport. But that is not the case in other leagues. In theory, Eriksen could sign for another club outside of Italy where playing with an ICD is not forbidden - England for example, or Holland. Another possibility open to Eriksen would be to return home to Denmark, where he would also be able to continue playing with an ICD.
