Christian Pulisic has no love for the Mexico national team
The game between Mexico and the United States men’s national team is around the corner and the 23-year-old said there is no friendship between both teams.
The United States men’s national team will host the Mexican national team on Friday for the first time in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers at the TQL stadium. The USMNT is in second place of the round-robin tournament, but a win could put them in first.
No friendship between both teams
The soccer rivalry between Mexico and the United States grew more this year because of the two finals that ‘El Tri’ lost during the summer. They seek revenge and want to lose a third time in a row against the CONCACAF rivals in their road to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“It is like every other rivalry, we don’t like each other and when the match starts everything becomes more tense on the pitch. The last two games are an example of that, it is always a war and even the tackles are harder,” said Pulisic during an interview with ESPN.
“It is an incredible feeling to play for my country and you have to work really hard to be part of the USMNT. Right now we are in a good spot and with time we could achieve great things as a team,” said Pulisic when asked about the feeling of playing for the national team.
Berhlater to be cautious with Pulisic’s minutes
Since the 23-year-old is barely returning from an almost two months ankle injury, the coach of the USMNT, Gregg Berhlater, promised to be cautious with the minutes he plays during this international window. “The important thing is that Christian leaves camp healthy and ready to push on with Chelsea. That’s gonna be first and foremost in our minds."
