Is Cam Newton playing with Panthers vs Cardinals on Sunday?

Cam Newton is back with the Panthers on a one-year deal, and the chances of him starting the Sunday game vs the Arizona Cardinals are not impossible.

On Sept. 11, 2011, Cam Newton made his NFL debut with the Panthers in Arizona against the Cardinals. Ten years later, the former No. 1 overall pick is back with his familiar team again.

Following the announcement of the $10 million deal with the Panthers on Thursday, coordinator Joe Brady told the media Friday that anything is possible for Sunday's game against the 8-1 Cardinals.

“Everything’s on the table right now,” Brady said. “We’ll kinda evaluate from a day-to-day standpoint, without getting into specifics. And we’ll see what today brings, kinda how things progress. Just be ready to rock on Sunday and see how things go.”

Head coach Matt Rhule seemed more realistic with Newton’s fresh return, and shared that next week is a more likely option for the veteran quarterback.

The Panthers now expect P.J. Walker will start for the 4-5 Panthers in Arizona, if they don’t surprise us with a sudden Newton play. At this point of season, Carolina could use Newton’s running ability going into Week 10, especially as Sam Darnold is still sidelined because of his right shoulder injury.

If Carolina does not incoroprate Newton’s skills on Sunday, the next game on the Panther’s schedule is vs the Washington Football Team in Week 11.
