LAFC’s Cristian Arango gets a surprise call from Magic Johnson
The forward for Los Angeles FC has been named the 2021 MLS Newcomer of the Year, and it was the legend Magic Johnson who gave him the good news.
LAFC striker Cristian Arango scored 14 goals and two assists throughout 17 games this season. On Monday, he was named the 2021 MLS Newcomer of the Year.
Arango's start with LAFC
The 26-year old played one season at Millonarios before joining LAFC in the summer transfer window. He only played half the games in the season and yet he was still by far the leading scorer, beating out both Diego Rossi and Carlos Vela, neither of whom even made it to the double digits.
The Colombiam won MLS Player of the week twice and became the fourth LAFC player to score a hat trick. Not to mention, he was called to the Colombian national team after his incredible season with LAFC.
It was the mythical former LA Lakers player Magic Johnson who called Arango up to give him the good news that he was named MLS Newcomer of the Year in 2021.
