When will the Washington Football Team choose a new nickname?
The Washington Football Team shared a preview of what their reestablished nickname will be back in August of the 2021 season, but will not reveal until 2022.

Earlier in the 2021 season, the Washington Football Team narrowed down their new franchise name to only three options, but are not planning to reveal them just yet.
In August, team president Jason Wright confirmed in a tweet that the team will be considering one of those three names, and that the final eight list “wasn’t necessarily accurate.”
Washington Football Team HC Ron Rivera says the final team name will "suit" fans from all three corners of the DMV, not just D.C.

History behind Washington Football Team’s name change
In 1932, the franchise began life as the Boston Braves but adopted the name Redskins a year later, retaining it for the move to Washington in 1937.
When the franchise’s owner at the time, George Preston Marshall, moved the team to D.C. he kept its nickname. Several years later, in July of 2020, the franchise changed its name to the temporary “Washington Football Team” since the Redskins name was widely seen as offensive to Native Americans.
The Washington Football Team has spent several years deciding on a new nickname, and plan to finish the 2021 season with their current one. 2022 will be the year we witness a newly branded Washington team with a possible permanent nickname.
