NFL Playoffs
Mahomes willing to go all out to break this NFL record
The Chiefs’ quarterback is tied with a 49ers legend for most postseason wins.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have a clear mission: reach Super Bowl LIX. To get there, they must defeat Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game. A win and a strong performance would allow the AFC West quarterback to surpass Hall of Famer Joe Montana in two significant NFL playoff categories.
First, in terms of victories, Mahomes and Montana are tied for second place with 16 wins each. Tom Brady holds the top spot with 35 wins, and a victory over the Bills would bring the Chiefs’ quarterback closer to the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star.
The second category is more specific: games with a passer rating over 100. Both “Mahomeboy” and “Joe Cool” have achieved this feat 12 times in the playoffs. Matching it this weekend would put Mahomes just six games behind Brady’s 19.
Mahomes’ Playoff History Against the Bills
Considering Mahomes’ playoff history against the Bills, it’s likely the Chiefs’ quarterback will surpass Montana this Sunday. So far, Kansas City has a 3-0 record against Buffalo in the playoffs.
The first matchup for the Texas Tech alum against the Orchard Park team was in the 2020 AFC Championship. KC won 38-24, with Mahomes throwing for three touchdowns and 325 yards.
The second encounter was in the 2021 Divisional Round. The Chiefs hosted the Bills at Arrowhead Stadium and needed a Mahomes-to-Travis Kelce pass to win in overtime after one of the best offensive displays in recent years following the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter.
The most recent meeting was in the 2023 Divisional Round, when Kansas City visited Highmark Stadium. Despite the home-field advantage, the Bills lost because Tyler Bass missed a 44-yard field goal, and Mahomes only had to kneel three times to end the game.
