Buccaneers: how long is Chris Godwin out? What happened?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ receiver was hit hard on Sunday as he and his side suffered defeat to the New Orleans Saints, with concerns over his likely return.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Chris Godwin has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Godwin out for season
Initial reports on Monday morning were that the Pro Bowl wide receiver would miss the end of this regular season, with hopes that he’d be back for the playoffs. Then, later in the day and following an MRI scan, it was confirmed by head coach Bruce Arians that he would be unavailable for the remainder of the entire season.
NFL news and insight:
As fans of the Bucs will testify - along with numerous fantasy football players across the globe - Godwin has been a tremendous asset when it comes to contributing points. Across the first 14 games he has delivered with five touchdowns and 1,103 receiving yards, while also taking advantage of Tom Brady’s arm, catching 77.2% of the targets.
The injury that has done Godwin in is a torn ACL, suffered during the loss to New Orleans Saints on Sunday - handing Brady a first shutout loss in 15 years. It was a really, really big hit, although was within the rules, and Arians will likely now turn to Antonio Brown to fill in.
The Bucs need to get back to winning ways...and quick.
