Wolfsburg in pole position to sign Ricardo Pepi
The Bundesliga side is leading the race to sign the FC Dallas striker during the winter transfer window, but no full agreement has been reached.
Ricardo Pepi is eager to make the switch to Europe’s top-tier leagues and with several clubs keen on signing him, it seems that the winner will be announced in the forthcoming days. According to MLSsoccer.com, the United States international will be playing in the Bundesliga next year.
Wolfsburg are leading the race
Wolfsburg are pushing to sign Ricardo Pepi, but no full agreement with FC Dallas has been reached yet. The report indicated that the negotiations are advanced because both sides are very interested in completing the transaction to make the official announcement as early as this week.
Also according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Pepi and his agent have been talking with several UEFA Champions League clubs, but they believed the Bundesliga is the best fit for him to continue developing as a player. Several United States international’s have adapted quickly to the league and made the switch to bigger clubs like Christian Pulisic.
Once the deal is done, Ricardo Pepi will be playing in the same league as his USMNT teammate Gio Reyan (Borussia Dortmund) and Tyler Adams (RB Leipzig). The ultimate goal for the FC Dallas striker is to see as many minutes as possible to be ready to become the starting striker for the USMNT during the 2022 World Cup.
