Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had an excellent season with the team so far, and he says he will soon be making a decision on what his next steps will be as far as his football career is concerned.

He says he has been having a good year and is simply relishing the game at this point, but admits retirement is under consideration after this season is over.

Retirement on the horizon?

“I wouldn’t rule that out. I think I’m just enjoying this season for this season, and I think playing next year will definitely be in the thought process,” he said.

“It won’t be something that I drag out for months and months. I’ll have conversations with my loved ones after the season.”

The 38-year-old added that he will also discuss his plans with people in the Packers organization.

Drama before the 2021 season

Earlier this year, the 10-time Pro Bowler was quoted as saying he no longer wished to go back to play for the Packers, then went on to miss the entire offseason with the team. Green Bay and the reigning NFL MVP eventually came to an agreement that would allow Rodgers to decide where he wants to play next year.

It seems the relations between the two parties have warmed greatly during the season, resulting in Rodgers rising to become an MVP contender and the Packers having the best NFL record at 12-3.

“I have a lot of of love for Matt (LaFleur) and enjoy playing for him. I love my teammates. The coaching staff has been fantastic, and they make it fun every single day,” Rodgers said.

The Packers will go against the Minnesota Vikings at home in Week 17 before ending the regular season on the road with a matchup against the Detroit Lions.
