Despite being arrested last week, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. will be available to play against the Buffalo Bills in Sunday's Divisional playoff clash.

Reid attended the media after training on Friday and assured that the linebacker will be involved at Arrowhead Stadium. “I decided he'd play, I'm not going to get into the conversations," Reid said. "I decided that after just hearing some of the information there”.

The linebacker was arrested late on Wednesday night in Overland Park and charged with “misdemeanor criminal damage” after destroying a vacuum cleaner during a heated discussion with the mother of his son. Gay Jr. pleaded not guilty and paid a $1000 bond so that he could practice with the team on Friday.

Gay Jr.'s numbers

Gay Jr. is in his second year as a professional after being recruited in the second round of the 2020 Draft. Since then, he has played 28 games, 19 of them in the starting line-up and has totalled 87 tackles, seven passes defensed, four tackles for loss of yards, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

In 2021, he missed the first four games of the regular season due to a toe injury which he picked up in the final game of the preseason. In spite of that, Gay Jr. played 57 of the defensive snaps in 2021 and racked up 48 tackles, four pass deflections and two interceptions.
