Update:
Burkina Faso vs Senegal: AFCON semifinal, times, TV and how to watch online

Burkina Faso are aiming to go one better than their runners-up performance in 2013 and a third-placed finish in 2017 at AFCON 2021 and will face Senegal in the first semi-final in their bid to add a first continental crown to their laurels. Senegal went into the tournament among the favourites but hardly impressed in the group stage, scoring only once from the penalty spot as the Lions of Teranga benefited from a weak set of opponents. Burkina Faso went through in second place behind host nation Cameroon with a draw, a win and a defeat, scoring three and conceding three.

Senegal peaking at the right time?

In the knock-out phase though Senegal have grown game by game, knocking two past Cape Verde without reply in the last 16 and beating Equatorial Guinea convincingly in the quarters. The Stallions meanwhile have ridden their luck in the latter stages, outlasting Gabon in a penalty shootout after conceding a stoppage time own goal and seeing off Tunisia 1-0 to reach the semi-finals.

Burkina Faso will also have to contend without the scorer of the decisive goal against Tunisia, Dango Ouattara, who was sent off later in the game. His namesake and potential replacement to lead the line, Djibril Ouattara, impressed against the Eagles of Carthage but limped off and is a doubt, but Kamou Malo should welcome back Aston Villa striker Bertand Traoré.

Senegal are back to full strength with Ismaïla Sarr making his tournament debut in the win over Equatorial Guinea and several squad members having returned after a covid outbreak. Sadio Mané will start for the Lions after recovering from a head injury sustained against Cape Verde to feature in the quarters.
