Real Madrid adapt transfer strategy for Mbappé and Haaland
Madrid's priority is to sign Kylian Mbappé from PSG and Los Blancos will step up their pursuit to land the forward after their Champions League ties with the French side.
Erling Haaland is a target for Real Madrid, but he is not their priority. Kylian Mbappé is the player that the LaLiga club are doing their utmost to sign.
Madrid have a huge Champions League tie against PSG coming up this month and are not considering making any more moves for Mbappé until after the European ties against the Ligue 1 club.
Mbappé the summer target
The first leg will be played on Tuesday 15 February at the Parc des Princes in Paris with the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu three weeks later on Wednesday 9 March. Once the Champions League games are over, Madrid will begin to make their move to sign Mbappé.
Madrid are supremely confident of landing Mbappé, who is now a free agent. When a deal is in place for the Frenchman, the plan then is to carry out the signing Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. Madrid believe that the summer of 2023 would be the ideal time to land the Norwegian goalscorer.
Top European sides chasing Haaland
The two players arriving at different times makes more sense for Madrid financially. This, however, will be difficult to achieve considering that Haaland finishes his contract this season and for that to happen he would have to renew with Dortmund and wait another 12 months, rejecting offers from the biggest clubs in the world in the meantime.
For now, Los Blancos are putting all their attention on the signing of Mbappé, but will also have one eye on Haaland over the coming months.
