Giannis' dad jokes - it's all about the delivery
It's impossible not to like the NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo. He's a talented player, but his humility and dad jokes make him even more likable.
On Tuesday, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo proved once again why he is one of the best players in the game. The Lakers, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, just simply couldn't keep up with Antetokounmpo.
He shot 17-for-20 from the field and made both of his three-point attempts and finished the game with 14 rebounds and eight assists. For Antetokounmpo, this is not out of the ordinary. The Bucks are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference much thanks to him.
Giannis' imposter syndrome
And yet, he remains one of the most humble stars in the NBA, always aware of how fortunate he is to be where is. Not to mention, he is just so pleasant to be around. He has a positive energy that he transmits into every room he walks in.
His teammate Khris Middleton said he has been the same since he first met him. "You could go back to my first days here with him, just telling his corny jokes that he loves to tell so much," Middleton said.
In his post game interviews, he likes to tell dad jokes. On Sunday, Antetokounmpo put up a 28-point, 10-rebound game vs the Clippers and then told this joke in his interview:
"Why did the football coach go to the back? To get his quarterback."
Then on Tuesday, after his big game vs the Lakers, this one:
"Why did the orange lose the race? He ran out of juice."
It's not just the joke that makes you giggle, though. Antetokounmpo, both times, sat and waited for someone to ask why, like he can't wait to tell the punchline, and so he implores, "somebody gotta ask why!" Then, as he tells the punchline, he gets this huge smile and runs off. The fact that he thinks it's so funny makes it even funnier.
Despite his success, Antetokounmpo remains the silly, humble boy he's always been and that's what makes him one of the best on and off the court.
