USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi extends his goalless drought
The United States men’s national team player has not scored in his last 15 appearances with club and country and suffered a tough defeat with Augsburg on Saturday.
Ricardo Pepi is struggling to find the back of the net with the United States men’s national team and his new club Augsburg. On Saturday he came in as a substitute in the 63rd minute, but couldn’t prevent his team from losing 3-2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
"We were all over them in the last 10-15 minutes so it makes us a little mad because of this defeat... we thought we could have won and we thought we could have done more, at least get a point," the 19-year-old explained. "It's a little bit sad for us."
Goalless drought for Pepi continues
This was a tough defeat for Augsburg as they sit third from bottom in the Bundesliga standings with 22 points and a record of five wins, seven draws and 10 losses. This is also the 15th consecutive game that Pepi has failed to score for club and country.
The last time the 19-year-old striker found the back of the net was with the United States men’s national team on 7 October of 2021. Pepi scored a brace in the United States 2-0 win against Jamaica in the World Cup qualifying tournament.
