The Los Angeles Rams were crowned Super Bowl LVI champions on Sunday night after beating the Bengals 23-20 at SoFi Stadium, in doing so becoming only the second team in NFL history to win the Super Bowl in their own stadium and the second consecutive occurrence of the feat, following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ victory last year.

Cooper Kupp, who has enjoyed a remarkable season for the Rams, had two touchdown receptions and was named MVP, while Aaron Donald was fundamental in shutting down the Bengals offense and keeping the wraps on Joe Burrow.

How much money do the Rams make for winning the Super Bowl?

According to sports salaries website Spotrac, each member of the 53-player 2021-22 Super Bowl-winning side will receive a bonus of $150,000, an increase of $20,000 on what the Buccaneers received last year.

However, players are also paid bonuses for playoffs victories: $42,500 for the Wild Card playoffs, the same amount for the Divisional playoffs and $65,000 for the Conference Championships. As such, each member of the Rams will take home a bonus of $300,000 for winning the Super Bowl.

The Bengals, meanwhile, will each receive $225,000 in total for their playoff victories and being on the losing side in the showpiece game.

The amount of money distributed to players for post-season wins has been increasing year-on-year after negotiations between the National Football League Players Association and the NFL. The current amount of $150,000 for a Super Bowl is set to rise to $228,000 by 2030.

Beckham and Whitworth win big at Super Bowl LVI

Some players also have extra bonus clauses written into their contracts. Odell Beckham Jr, who joined the Rams in mid-season, has a clause in his deal guaranteeing a $1 million bonus for winning the Super Bowl. The receiver scored the first touchdown of the game against the Bengals but was then forced off with a knee injury before half time.

Andrew Whitworth, the Rams’ 40-year-old offensive tackle, will also take home a bonus of $500,000 after LA’s victory.
