USMNT establishes new record against Mexico national team
The United States men’s national team remains undefeated against El Tri in their last four matches, with three wins and one draw.
The United States men’s national team wanted to end a winless record at Estadio Azteca in World Cup qualifiers on Thursday night, but they failed to find the back of the net in two clear opportunities they had. Christian Pulisic missed a point-blank chance in the first half when his shot was hit straight at Guillermo Ochoa.
Then late in the second half, Gio Reyna cushioned the ball to Jordan Pefok inside the six-yard box and the USMNT striker completely missed the goal. The United States had the two clearest opportunities to break the deadlock, but they were not on point and had to settle for a draw at the end of the 90 minutes.
Historic streak for the USMNT
Even though the United States couldn’t walk out of Estadio Azteca with the three points, they remained undefeated against Mexico in four straight competitive games for the first time in history. It all started last year when the USMNT defeated El Tri in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League final.
