During an event at the Madrid Jarama Circuit, the Asturian driver confessed that the American is one of his most listened to artists.

Fernando Alonso and Taylor Swift both had to contend with nearly simultaneous romantic breakups. In the moments following the official announcements of their respective separations, both of them exchanged several flirtatious gestures, greatly amplified by the power of social media, to the extent that there was considerable speculation about whether they might be embarking on a romance together.

What’s going on with Taylor and Fernando?

However, with the passage of time, the fervor for a long-awaited love story from the online community gradually waned, until the Formula 1 driver inadvertently reignited it. He did so during an event at the Madrid Jarama Circuit when responding to a question about the most listened-to artists on his Spotify account.

Alonso is a Swifty

“Melendi, Taylor Swift,” began the Oviedo native, eliciting a torrent of laughter from the more than 6,000 people eagerly awaiting the words of the Aston Martin driver. After a brief pause for thought, Alonso concluded his top 3 with Rosalía. “I was on the starting grid in Barcelona, and I wasn’t there at that moment,” he recalled.

The reactions on social media to one of Alonso’s standout moments before hitting the track were, ahem, swift. “He’s going to win the ‘Driver of the Day’ vote until 2047,” quipped one user, acknowledging the power of Taylor Swift’s followers to mobilize on social media, as they recently did with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.

Fernando’s generous fan gesture

In addition to sharing a light-hearted moment with Taylor Swift, Alonso found time to make a heartwarming gesture towards a fan who had sent him a video on Twitter via the Ceciarmy account a few days prior. In the video, she expressed her admiration and longstanding support for his racing career.

She requested, “Send me a t-shirt and sign it for me. I’m an older lady now, and I want to have something of yours because I admire you greatly.” This heartfelt message, which lasted just twenty seconds, has been viewed on the social network more than two million times.

At Jarama, where the woman attended with a VIP pass, Alonso approached to meet ‘grandma Paqui’ and gifted her a signed cap, a gesture that exemplifies the driver’s generosity and close connection with his fans.
