The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga concluded with ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and was quickly followed by the ongoing Multiverse Saga. ‘Endgame’ saw three of the six original Avengers either die or retire and in phases four and five, the torch is being passed on to new heroes.

Disney CEO, Bob Iger, even confirmed that a new Avengers team will debut in the MCU soon during a conversation with Morgan Stanley Technology from the Media and Telecom Conference.

“If you look at the trajectory of Marvel in the next five years, there will be a lot of newness,” Iger said. “We’re going to turn back to the ‘Avengers’ franchise with a whole new set of Avengers, for example.”

While Iger didn’t name any specific characters, fans have a pretty good idea as to who they can expect on the new roster.

Young Avengers

In the Marvel Comics the Young Avengers is the name given to two teams of adolescent superheroes, most of whom trained under the original Avengers.

Some have already begun to appear in the MCU.

For example, Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) from ‘Hawkeye’, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) from ‘Black Widow’, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) from ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) from ‘Ms. Marvel’, Shuri (Letitia Wright) from ‘Black Panther’, Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy Maximoff (Jett Klyne) among others.

In addition to the Young Avengers, other adult superheroes have already made their MCU debut like Moon Knight (Oscar Issac) and She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany).

Marvel Studios Executive, Stephen Broussard, has also previously discussed the new Avengers team.

“If you look at, like, Cassie getting a suit and Kate Bishop, new characters being introduced like Jack in ‘Werewolf by Night’,” said Broussard.

“After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, torches are being passed, like with Robert Downey Jr. no longer being [on the] table and stuff like that. So it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics.”

The new Avengers team is expected to be formed in time for ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
