Doja Cat stole the show in Paris thanks to her ‘Doja Inferno’ look which took close to five hours to complete.

The Spring 2023 couture shows kicked off at Paris Fashion Week, but it was Doja Cat who turned heads as she was covered from head to toe in red jewels and makeup.

The rapper appeared at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show and sparkled in red crystals, which took makeup artist Pat McGrath nearly five hours to hand-place.

McGrath shared a video of the final look on her Instagram account, dubbed ‘Doja’s Inferno’ given Dante Alighieri’s ‘Inferno’ served as the inspiration for the visual spectacle at Schiaparelli.

“Such a pleasure working with the gorgeous @DojaCat and the amazing @DanielRoseberry on the ‘Doja’s Inferno’ look for @Schiaparelli’s FW23 Haute Couture collection. Doja’s sublime patience during the 4 hours and 58 minutes it took to create the look with #TeamPatMcGrath, which was covered in over 30,000 hand-applied @swarovski Crystals, was inspiring. The final product was a magical, mesmerising masterpiece of sparkling brilliance. Xx,” wrote McGrath.

Along with the crystals, Doja Cat was draped in a red silk faille bustier and wore a hand-knit skirt of lacquered wooden beads. The look was finished with trompe l’oeil toe boots.

Experimental looks are nothing new for Doja Cat, who told ELLE that her attention-grabbing attires were once called out by a middle school administrator.

“He was like, ‘Get that crap off of your face. Nobody wants to see that. Why do you dress like this? What’s the point of dressing like this? You’re such a distraction,’” she said. “I never liked the way I looked. I didn’t feel like I fit in. I felt like I stuck out all the time, and I didn’t like it. It was a strange time.”

Who else was in attendance

There was no shortage of stars at the show, with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Shalom Harlow and Irina Shayk taking to the runway in haute couture gowns with giant animal heads.

Kylie Jenner was in the front row with a giant lion’s head attached to her black dress, with Schiaparelli posting that no animals were harmed in the making of any of the looks.

The ‘Need to Know’ singer recently picked up five nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards, as well five more for this year’s iHeartRadio Awards.
