Update:

Highly-acclaimed French crime movie Emilia Pérez has gained plaudits across the board since its premiere at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Written and directed by Jacques Audiard, the crime movie has received 266 nominations and won 91 awards in the first nine months since its release - although not without some controversy.

Karla Sofía Gascón, who plays the lead Juan “Manitas” Del Monte - a drugs cartel kingpin who transitions to become Emilia Pérez, was taken to task about a series of old tweets which she has since deleted.

Emilia Pérez: nominations and awards

At Cannes, the movie received five nominations, including the coveted Palme d’Or, and won three awards, among them the Jury Prize.

It bagged a clean sweep of accolades at December’s European Film Awards in Lucerne and another four at last month’s Golden Globes, where it won Best Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy along with the Best Motion Picture: Non-English Language award.

How many Oscar nominations has Emilia Pérez received?

At next month’s Academy Awards, Emilia Pérez has 13 nominations in 12 categories. Only three films have received more nominations in the history of the Oscars: All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) and La La Land (2016), all received 14.

Emilia Pérez shares second place for the most Oscar nominations in Academy history with 11 other classic movies - the most recent being Oppenheimer a couple of years ago.
