Goodbye to one of Netflix’s most beloved series after just three seasons
A popular Netflix series won’t be getting a fourth season, but will nonetheless be returning to viewers’ screens.
The popular Netflix series Heartstopper won’t be returning for another season - but the show will conclude with a feature-length movie.
The coming-of-age comedy-drama, which focuses on the romance between high-school classmates Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), closed out its third season in autumn last year.
When will the Heartstopper movie premiere?
“The movie picks up after the swoony Season 3 finale, which saw Nick, Charlie, and many of their friends take their relationships to a new level,” Netflix revealed on Monday.
The streaming giant added that production of the movie will begin this summer. Its release date is yet to be confirmed.

A show that premiered in April 2022, Heartstopper is based on a series of graphic novels by Alice Oseman, who also serves as the creator of the Netflix adaptation.
Reacting to the news that the show will return with a movie, Oseman told Netflix’s Tudum website: “We’ve been working towards and hoping for this moment since we wrapped production of Season 3 at the end of 2023.
“There has been a huge amount of dedication and determination behind the scenes to get to this point.
“I’ve seen how frustrated and worried fans have been about whether we’d get to tell the end of the story — I’ve had messages asking about it every single day since Season 3 dropped! So I’m incredibly relieved that the answer is YES.”
She added: “I want the movie to be a beautiful and emotional send-off for the Heartstopper story - celebrating what Heartstopper means to people, a chance to say goodbye to our beloved characters, and many hints of what’s to come in the characters’ future lives.”
