On Sunday, UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, rolled out the red carpet for the 42nd edition of the MTV Video Music Awards - better known as the VMAs. The annual spectacle once again celebrated the year’s most impactful music videos and standout releases.

This year’s show was hosted by hip-hop legend and actor LL Cool J, who was joined by a star-studded lineup of presenters including Ashlee Simpson, Ciara, Drew Barrymore, Ice Spice, Jessica Simpson, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.

Ozzy honored as big names perform

The night was packed with electrifying performances from artists like Alex Warren, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, J Balvin, Lady Gaga, Lola Young, Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Ricky Martin, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sombr. One of the evening’s most emotional moments came during a powerful tribute to heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July. The homage featured Yungblud, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, delivering a medley of Osbourne’s classics.

Leading the pack in nominations this year was Lady Gaga, who had earned 12 nods. Close behind were Bruno Mars with 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar with 10, including several for his hard-hitting track “Not Like Us.” Sabrina Carpenter followed with nine, while Blackpink’s Rosé earned eight. Ariana Grande and The Weeknd each received seven nominations.

But how many VMA Moon Person trophies did they actually take home?
