Meryl Streep receives honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival: The actress’ Academy Awards
Her long and distinguished career has made her the most nominated actress in Academy Award history.
Meryl Streep has been a Hollywood icon for decades. In terms of Academy Awards, Streep has been nominated 21 times in two different categories, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. She was given the Honorary Palme d’or at Cannes 2024.
From those nominations she has won three times, making her one of the most acclaimed American actresses of all time, picking up a Best Supporting Actress award in 1980 for ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ as well as two Best Actress awards for ‘Sophie’s Choice’ in 1983 and ‘The Iron Lady’ in 2012, nearly 30 years later.
The actress has said on ocassion that she used to have a photographic memory, which helped her remember her lines. She has also said that Robert De Niro is her favorite actor to work with.
