Update:

Actor Timothée Chalamet spent five and a half years becoming Bob Dylan. He studied his character inside and out to play the role in the biographical musical film “A Complete Unknown”. He learned to play guitar and he played all the songs in the film himself.

Chalamet’s efforts are already paying off. Just recently, the 29-year-old actor became the youngest actor to win best male actor in a leading role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. An Academy Award could be next for the young actor, who aspires to be one of the best.

Chalamet’s awards history

For his performance as Bob Dylan, Chalamet has been nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, March 2. This makes just his second Oscar nomination. He was also nominated for Best Actor in 2018 for his role in “Call Me By Your Name”, but he was beaten by Gary Oldman (“Darkest Hour”).

Apart from his two Academy Award nominations, Chalamet has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four British Academy Film Awards, seven Screen Actors Guild Awards (with the one win now), and six Critic’s Choice Awards. On Sunday, he could win his first Oscar.

After winning the SAG Award, Chalamet expressed that he is aspiring to be one of the greats in his field.

“The truth is, this was five and a half years of my life,” said Chalamet. “I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan. It was the honor of a lifetime.”

“I’m truly in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats,” Chalamet went on in his speech. “I’m inspired by the greats… This doesn’t signify that, but it’s a little more fuel to keep going.”

At the SAG Awards, Chalamet unexpectedly won over Adrien Brody, who’s up against him at the Oscars as well, for his role in “The Brutalist”. But whether or not that win catapults him past Brody at the Oscars remains to be seen.
