A joint investigation details former employees’ accounts from 2021 and the alleged workplace conditions inside the singer’s Caribbean residences.

Julio Iglesias sexual assault claims in Caribbean residences revealed: “it should be called the little house of terror”

Two women who worked for Julio Iglesias have accused the Spanish singer of sexual assault and sustained abuse during their employment at his private residences in the Caribbean, according to a joint investigation published by elDiario.es and Univision Noticias.
What is Julio Iglesias accused of?
The women, identified under pseudonyms to protect their identities, say the alleged assaults occurred in 2021 while they were working in Iglesias’s homes in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, and Lyford Cay, in the Bahamas. One was employed as a live-in domestic worker, the other as a physiotherapist. At the time, the youngest was 22.
According to their testimony, Iglesias, then 77, subjected them to unwanted sexual touching, coercion and humiliation, often within a rigid and intimidating workplace hierarchy. One woman alleges repeated sexual assaults in the singer’s bedroom after being summoned late at night, describing an environment in which refusal felt impossible. The other says Iglesias kissed her and touched her breasts without consent, including in public settings such as the beach and swimming pool.

They say senior staff members facilitated or pressured them to comply with the singer’s demands. The investigation reports that some employees were required to undergo medical and gynecological examinations as part of their employment.
What has Julio Iglesias said about claims?
Journalists from elDiario.es and Univision Noticias state that they attempted repeatedly to contact Iglesias and his legal representatives for comment but received no response. Questions were also sent to household managers named in the testimonies, with limited or no replies.
The media outlets report that their investigation took three years and included interviews with 15 former employees, as well as the review of documentary evidence such as messages, medical reports and employment records. No criminal charges have been announced at this stage.
The Spanish outlet has also provided the full report on the investigation in English.
