Netflix to the rescue: Sesame Street will have new episodes on the streaming platform

Netflix and PBS have announced a new deal that will bring the beloved television program Sesame Street to the streaming platform.

Sesame Street is one of the most recognizable programs on PBS, but it is produced by the Children’s Television Workshop, which received federal funding in the late 1960s to get the show up and running. Over the decades, it has become a staple in the childhood of many children growing up in the country, and Netflix’s acquisition will expand that reach even further.

Will free episodes still be available on PBS Kids’ website?

Currently, the PBS Kids website hosts eight episodes at a time, and will continue to do so. However, for families looking for more episodes, Netflix will be their home on the web.

What fans can expect from season 56

The 56th season of Sesame Street is the first to air on PBS and be available on Netflix the same day. In the press release announcing the deal with Netflix, the Sesame Workshop stated that while the new episodes will include many recognizable faces from the cast, they will also “feature a fresh format.”
