Paul Walter Hauser stars alongside Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong and Stephen Graham as one of the key characters in Scott Cooper’s new biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere - which delves into the making of the Boss’ sixth studio album Nebraska.
Springsteen’s spent almost a year writing and recording demos for what would become Nebraska - a creative journey which ultimately led the Boss to rehearse and record his new material with the E-Street Band, only to ditch the results in favor of releasing the original demos in all of their raw, unadulterated glory.
In the film, Hauser is cast as Mike Batlan, Springsteen’s trusty guitar tech and recording engineer, who has all the technical wizardry and savvy to give the songs the right sound and feel.
During the production of Deliver Me from Nowhere, Hauser discovered a bizarre connection that directly links him to Springsteen. During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, the 38-year-old actor revealed that he once lived in a house that was previously owned by the New Jersey rocker.

“What’s crazy is I lived in his old house without knowing it - I lived there for six months” Hauser explained. “And in my first week of being there my brother-in-law Joe Shaver, he hits me up and he’s like, ‘You know that Springsteen owned that home for like, 25 years, right?’ And I was like, ‘What!!’
“And then we find out all this history about the place,” he continued, adding that at times, it was as if supernatural forces were at play. “The speaker system in the home randomly played Born in the USA and none of us had it on our Spotify or Apple Music or anything... I’m not kidding.
“We smelled burning at one point, and we’re like, ‘What is that weird smell?’ We looked up the house and we find out there was a house fire there in the early 20th Century where some young starlet was being put up by some rich guy. She had a cigarette lit and died. She was pregnant and died in the home . So, gnarly, weird stuff going down!”
Apart from the odd paranormal experience, Paul says he has fond memories of living there. “The happy stuff is that we conceived our second child in Bruce’s old bedroom. So when I met Bruce, I said, ‘I used to live in your old house.’ He goes, ‘I heard...’ What!? And I was like, ‘I conceived a child in your old bedroom.’ He goes, ‘So did I!’ I’m like, ‘We’re locational eskimo brothers! And we hugged it out, it was insane!”
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, is due to go on general release this fall, hitting theaters October 24.
