Pearl Jam’s new single ‘Dark Matter’ now available and the band’s new album release date announced
A single, an album and a tour from one of the world’s most iconic bands over several decades is almost with us, and fans can’t wait.
We all like a little teaser from time to time and legendary band Pearl Jam have delivered this Monday. In a simple post on X, the group’s official account shared news with fans that something would be happening at midnight Eastern Time in the US. And what that ‘thing’ was is all people have been talking about.
Pearl Jam’s midnight Dark Matter drop
The expectation is that come midnight east coast (that’s 9 p.m. PT) the title track of the new album ‘Dark Matter’ was revealed. It’s been four years since Pearl Jam released their last album, ‘Gigaton’ so fans are excited to get the vibes from this one.
And some, those that are members of Ten Club, have reportedly already been sent links allowing them to pre-save the tracks.
What do we know about Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter?
There have been various stories doing the rounds about the new album from Pearl Jam. First thing to note is that it was recorded around a year ago and has been produced, in Malibu at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio, by Andrew Watt. On Friday, 9 February, there was the first of the X posts that really got fans excited. The short musical clip was joined with multiple ‘tweets’ (sorry, Elon, I can’t break the habit) of followers looking forward to the new offering from the band.
As mentioned above, Ten Club members were to get a further surprise on Saturday.
They received the usual monthly newsletter, explains pearljamonline, “but the mail was totally black except for the header, with hidden links inside that led to a pre-save of the new album on Spotify and Apple Music.” The fan site goes on to clarify that the term ‘pre-save’ is used for “when something is released, it’s directly loaded into the music library of your account on your chosen streaming service.”
When will Dark Matter be released? And the Pearl Jam tour?
From what we understand, the single Dark Matter will be available from just after midnight ET and the album by the same name will be available April 19th. Oh, and then there’s the world tour - visiting America, Europe, Australia and Asia - which has just been announced, check out dates and cities here.
