Prince William showed his support for a London community in the midst of remembering a great loss.

Ahead of the six-year anniversary where the Grenfell Tower set ablaze, the prince visited a local soccer stadium to support the community and its survivors.

The fire tore apart the West London 24-story Grenfell Tower apartment building on June 14, 2017.

Prince William hears about the community

While there, the Prince of Wales met survivors and family members who lost loved ones in the fire.

The team’s charity, QPR, is a member of the Community Trust, and has offered ongoing support to those tragically affected by the fire.

The prince met with Les Ferdinand, the charity’s CEO and former star player of the club, to chat about how the organization responded to the fire, and has been supporting the community ever since.

Meeting with survivors

The Prince of Wales took some extra time to meet with youth workers and other people involved in the community, including those offering mentorship, mental health support, and personal development services, as per People .

Then he went on to meet with survivors, grieving family members, and local members of the community, and asked how they were impacted by the tragedy.

Prince William has been president of the Football Association since 2005, and has been a long-time advocate for the positive effect sports have on mental health.
