After Brandon Marshall gave Patrick Mahomes a fake compliment from Rihanna which the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback fell for, the singer and actress took to social media to send Mahomes a few words in support.

“Rihanna came out and said that you are the greatest quarterback ever,” Marshall said to Mahomes in a press conference. “Hearing that, how does that make you feel?”

“Makes me feel great,” Mahomes responded. “Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospels. So I’m glad that she went with me for that honor.”

Though Mahomes seemed incredibly flattered, Marshall eventually came clean and admitted he lied.

“Patrick Mahomes, I pranked him yesterday,” Marshall said. “And I said Rihanna said that you’re the greatest quarterback ever. He blushed. He smiled. And then at the end I was like, bro I’m lying.”

Luckily for Mahomes, Marshall told Rihanna about the prank in a video on Instagram. The singer then apologized on Marshall’s behalf before sending Mahomes a positive message.

“I’m so sorry you went through that,” Rihanna said. “I still think you’re great.”

Mahomes is an American football quarterback and played a vital role in assisting the Kansas City Chiefs to reach the Super Bowl LVII. He is set to play this coming Sunday.

Rihanna back in action

While the Super Bowl halftime show never fails to be a massive annual event, this year is extra special because it marks Rihanna’s first live performance since 2018.

The singer has taken a lengthy hiatus likely focusing on her son, who was born on May 19, 2022, as well as her makeup brand Fenty Beauty and other ventures.

Fenty Beauty launched in 2017 and has been praised for being an inclusive brand. In comparison to the average makeup brand, Fenty carries an extensive, and quite impressive, range of shades and colors for a variety of skin types.

With the Super Bowl airing at 6:30 p.m. EST, fans can expect the halftime show to take place around 8:00-9:00 p.m. EST.
