Save the date: Toronto International Film Festival to offer star power and impressive movie premiers in 2025
The TIFF will be presenting films from over 30 countries showcasing “today’s most exciting and acclaimed directors” during its 50th edition this September.
The Toronto International Film Festival will be rolling out the red carpet in September presenting films that “span multiple continents and storytelling traditions” according to organizers. There will be a number of world premieres at North America’s largest film festival’s 50th edition including Rian Johnson’s new Knives Out 3, the previous two installments also had theirs at the festival.
Films from over 30 countries have been invited to the festival “that showcase bold storytelling, global perspectives, and the power of film to connect audiences across cultures,” says TIFF. “Since its inception, TIFF has championed global cinema that opens our eyes and brings us together,” said the festival’s chief programming officer, Anita Lee, in a statement.
What are the dates for the Toronto International Film Festival?
TIFF will begin hot on the heels of the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, which wraps up on 1 September. Opening night, 4 September, will have the world premiere of director Colin Hanks’ documentary ‘John Candy: I Like Me’. This “heartfelt tribute to the legendary Canadian icon” was produced by Ryan Reynolds.
The festival, which runs through 14 September, will bookend with Canadian director Anne Émond’s ‘Peak Everything’ at the closing night gala on 13 September.

Lee said of the lineup that this collection showcases “the remarkable originality and excellence of today’s most exciting and acclaimed directors.”
“These films reflect a sweeping range of voices and styles that embodies the spirit of TIFF and our commitment to a public audience,” she added.
