Shawn Mendes clarifies his relationship with Sabrina Carpenter

After weeks of rumors circulating that Canadian pop singer Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter are a romantic item, Mendes finally sets the record straight about his current relationship status.

According to an interview with the Netherlands-based publication RTL Boulevard, Mendes explained that he is not dating the actress and singer. Throughout the interview, the singer chose to focus on his upcoming modeling work “more than Sabrina.”

“We are not dating,” Mendes explained. “But thank you!”

Spotted together

Rumors of a potential relationship first started circulating after celebrity gossip Instagram account, Deuxmoi shared a tip suggesting the pair was seen cozying up on a dinner date.

Last month the two were also seen enjoying each other’s company on a walk in Los Angeles. They were later seen exiting Miley Cyrus’ ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ release party together on March 9.

Mental health journey

These rumors are among Mendes’ ongoing mental health journey. He initially opened up about his struggles in July of 2022 when he canceled his remaining ‘Wonder World Tour’ dates due to the mental toll.

In a statement posted on his social media channels, the ‘Treat You Better’ singer explained that he needs to take the time to “ground” himself so he can “come back stronger than ever”

“This doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future,” he added. “I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I’ve taken the right time to heal.”

At the time, fans showed an outpouring of support for the singer and his step back from touring. Many of them took to Twitter to tweet Mendes their good wishes.

Not only fans but fellow celebrities also replied to the singer’s statement on Twitter to wish him well. Fellow pop singer Hayley Kiyoko and actress Julia Macchio can be seen under the statement.
