Simone Biles marries NFL player Jonathan Owens

Simone Biles is officially married. The Olympic gymnast wed NFL Player Jonathan Owens over the weekend in a private intimate courthouse wedding ceremony that only included the couple and an officiant.

The two first met on Raya in March 2020 and got engaged almost two years later in February 2022. Raya is a members-only dating app targeted toward celebrities and other famous professionals.

Biles announced the big day with a set of photos posted on her Instagram account. In the carousel of images, the happy couple are seen kissing, holding hands, saying their vows, and walking out of the courthouse.

“I do officially owens,” Biles captioned the post with two white heart emojis.

The decorated gymnast teased the wedding a week earlier, again, on her Instagram. Biles posted a selfie of her and her fiancé at the time holding their marriage license in the state of Texas.

She captioned the post, “almost time to say ‘I do’” and tagged Owens in the post. Owens also celebrated the big day by posting several more photos of their wedding on his Instagram account.

In the Houston Texas player’s post, he included photos of the couple kissing, embracing, and their official courthouse document. Several of their pictures were taken on a luxurious black-and-white marble staircase and on a roof overlooking the city.

Congratulating the couple

Both Biles and Owens received an outpouring of congratulations and love on their wedding posts. Several other famous athletes took to Owens’ comments to share their support for the couple.

Green Bay Packers running back A.J. Dillion wrote “Congratulations brotha !!” with a series of clapping emojis.

Thomas Booker who also plays for the Houston Texans shared, “Congratulations brotha!!”

Actor Jonathan ‘J.D.’ Davis, who stars in ‘Outer Banks’ shared his support by writing, “CONGRATULATIONS YALL” to the newlyweds.

Vyncint Smith for the Indianapolis Colts also wrote a “Congratulations!” message.

Biles also made sure to show love to her new husband in the comments. “i love you husband,” the gymnast wrote.

Relationship History

While Biles and Owens officially met via a dating app in 2020, the two had a close encounter a year earlier during a Texans game in 2019. According to PEOPLE, Biles had made the first move.

A few months after meeting, Biles made the relationship Instagram official when she posted two photos of the couple cozying up and kissing with the caption, “It’s just us.” A month later Owens also made the Instagram official debut and posted two photos with Biles.

Since then the couple has been going strong and announced their engagement again on Instagram last February after almost two years of dating. The NFL player popped the question under a gazebo in Houston, Texas.
