Taylor Swift breaks her own Spotify record with “The Life of a Showgirl”

The launch date Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life Of A Showgirl is almost here and demand has been so high that the singer-songwriter has already shattered her previous pre-save record, set last year with The Tortured Poets Department.

The Life Of A Showgirl hits stores tomorrow, October 3 and fans who cannot wait to hear the 12 brand new tracks for the first time can grab a physical copy on vinyl, CD or cassette from midnight tonight at select Target stores.

But many Swifties have already reserved The Life Of A Showgirl as a pre-save on Spotify. Earlier this week, Rolling Stone reported that the new release has already surpassed 5.75 million pre-saves on the digital streaming platform - becoming the first album in history to reach the magical figure.

Swift to promote ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ on television

Taylor is scheduled to appear on BBC chat show The Graham Norton Show this Friday, October 3 (5:40 p.m. ET) to talk about The Life Of A Showgirl. She will take to the red sofa with fellow guests Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee , Jodie Turner-Smith and Domhnall Gleeson, while live music will be provided by Lewis Capaldi.

She will follow that up as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 6, then and appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on October 8.

What are Spotify pre-saves and how do they work?

The feature allows fans to automatically add an upcoming song or album to their Spotify library on the day of its release, in the same way as a digital pre-order. The green pre-save button for The Life Of A Showgirl can be found on Swift’s own artist page, the album is located under Release Countdown on the right hand side of the page.

Spotify users can view the top 10 pre-save ranking which is updated every Wednesday.
