Taylor Swift is surprising fans once again by announcing the midnight release of four previously unreleased songs. The singer took to Instagram earlier today to tell fans that in celebration of her upcoming tour, which kicks off tomorrow, she will be releasing new music tonight.

She confirmed in her post that the four new songs that will be released are ‘Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version)’, ‘Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version)’, ‘If This Was A Movie (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘All Of The Girls You Loved Before’.

“In celebration of The Eras Tour I’m releasing 4 previously unreleased songs tonight at midnight,” Swift writes in an Instagram story post.

Are the four songs new?

‘Safe and Sound’ (Taylor’s Version) was previously released for the ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack in 2012 and featured Tennessee, duo ‘The Civil Wars.’

‘Safe and Sound (Taylor’s Version)’ will still include the duo, who broke up in 2014 and now have solo careers and go by the names Joy Williams and John Paul White. ‘Eyes Open’ was also recorded and produced for the ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack but has no featured artists.

‘If This Was a Movie’ was previously released in 2010, but only on the Target deluxe edition of the singer’s third studio album ‘Speak Now.’ While ‘All of the Girls You Loved Before’ is an unreleased song, an outtake from Swift’s seventh studio album, ‘Lover’ released in 2019.

Upcoming Tour

The new singles will be released at midnight ahead of the opening show for Swift’s upcoming ‘Eras Tour.’ The first show will be held on Friday, March 17 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale Arizona.

This is the same location where the Super Bowl was held last month. The singer will also perform a second time at the same venue the following night.

The ‘Eras Tour’ was announced by Swift in November of 2022, which was followed by controversy regarding Ticketmaster’s alleged failure to handle the demand for ticket sales. At the time, fans reported major issues with the platform, claiming they waited hours in queues to be kicked out of the site.

Swift later addressed the outrage on Instagram.

“It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.”

She also explained she hopes to “provide more opportunities for us to all get together and sing these songs.”
