‘The Fall Guy’ release date, cast and trailer: is Ryan Gosling’s new movie based on a true story?

The 2024 Super Bowl leaves us with a new trailer for the new film starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.

The Fall Guy Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling returns to the some wild action on the big screen following his iconic – and award nominated – role as Ken in ‘Barbie’. So much so, that we now have a new and outrageous trailer for ‘The Fall Guy’ as part of the latest previews, which were initially showcased at the Super Bowl, alongside ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘The Realm of the Planet of the Apes’.

Gosling seems perfect once again in this new action comedy alongside Emily Blunt, and ahead of its nationwide release fans are getting excited with various updated trailers and teasers giving us more glimpses inside ‘The Fall Guy’, hinting at the playful and mischievous tone of the script along with generous doses of madness and abandon; and some tears, as demonstrated by the actor upon hearing Taylor Swift’s ‘All Too Well’.

When is ‘The Fall Guy’ with Ryan Gosling released?

“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment.

“And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?” explains us its crazy official synopsis. And it’s released across the US on Friday 3 May 2024.

‘The Fall Guy’ is not based on a real life story, but instead inspired by the successful 1980s television series starring Lee Majors (you can see the opening sequence below). Stuntman Gosling embarks on a quest to find a famous actor whose disappearance jeopardises the production of the movie. The twist, well at least the first one, is that the movie within the movie is directed by his ex-girlfriend, played by Blunt.

Winston Duke, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hanna Waddingham, Stephanie Hsu, and Teresa Palmer round out an impressive cast that also features a stellar cameo by none other than Lee Majors himself.
