Update:

Huntr/x has become the first fictional group to top the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S, as multiple songs from the hit Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters take the music charts by storm.

“Golden” conquers Billboard charts

Billboard revealed on Monday that Huntr/x’s song “Golden” has captured No. 1 spot in the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. rankings.

What’s more, the music magazine confirmed that another fictional K-pop group from Demon Hunters - a boy band known as The Saja Boys - now boasts two tracks in the top 10 of each chart.

The Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” is up to third in the Global 200 and fifth in the Global Excl. U.S. Meanwhile, the group’s song “Soda Pop” has risen to sixth and seventh, respectively.

What is KPop Demon Hunters about?

“Golden”, “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop” are among 12 songs that make up the soundtrack to KPop Demon Hunters, an animated musical in which the members of the girl group Huntr/x double up as demon hunters.

“Together, they must face their biggest threat - an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise,” Netflix says.

Netflix smash set for Oscars?

Released on Netflix on June 20, KPop Demon Hunters is currently the streaming platform’s second-most-watched movie both in the U.S. and worldwide.

The film has also had a small-scale theatrical release in the states - a move that makes it eligible for the Oscars.

Per Billboard’s Paul Grein, Netflix has chosen to enter “Golden” for the Best Original Song category in the 98th Academy Awards, which are to be held early next year.

Huntr/x’s three members are Rumi, Mira and Zoey, whose singing voices are performed by the musicians Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, respectively.
