‘The Rings of Power’ season 2 shows the first trailer that plunges Middle Earth into war
Amazon Studios has released the first teaser trailer for season two of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’.
“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is about to return. It was believed the Dark Lord Morgoth had been defeated by the Second Age of Middle Earth, but evil forces of darkness - in the form of Sauron - are back with a vengeance.
When does ‘The Rings of Power’ season 2 premiere?
While Elven warrior Galadriel tackled the Orcs and their menacing accomplices in the first season of the Amazon Prime Video series, the war is about to go further still in season two. Swords are wielded and arrows are drawn, and wizards work their magic in the first teaser trailer for season two, which is set to premiere on 29 August.
Little has been revealed regarding the plot for the new season, although a number of storylines were left hanging in the balance at the end of the first, such as the Dwarves’ battle against the Balrogs, the death of King Tar-Palantir, Galadriel’s adventures in the Southlands and the ever-impending bleak future.
Amidst the conflicts and fighting, the rings of power themselves will continue to sparkle. According to actress Morfydd Clark, who will reprise her role as Galadriel, more rings will be forged in season two and she herself will get her hands on one.
The first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” received mixed reviews from both critics and viewers, so the pressure is on for Amazon Studios after their decision to renew the series for a second run.
“Lord of the Rings and “Gollum” director Peter Jackson to return to fantasy world
Peter Jackson, who directed, wrote and produced “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, has insisted he has not be involved with “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” which is not intended to be a continuation of the earlier movies. Several individuals, including composer Howard Shore, have had some participation in both projects, though.
However, Jackson, who also directed “The Hobbit” trilogy, will soon be stepping back into the fantasy world.
The first of two related movies coming up is “The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim,” scheduled to be released on 13 December 2024. The story will take place around 200 years before the events of “The Lord of the Rings” films, when Helm Hammerhand was the King of Rohan. Although Jackson won’t be officially credited for the anime movie, he has been involved in the creative process with director Kenji Kamiyama.
A live action “The Lord of the Rings” film will then be released in 2026. Andy Serkis will direct and star as the title character in “The Hunt for Gollum” (a working title), which Jackson and his team will be producing and “be involved in every step of the way,” according to Warner Bros.
