This is what award-winning actress Salma Hayek looks like at 58 years old
She played a sultry dancer in a zombie thriller, the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and a street-savvy pussycat. Versatility and beauty.
Salma Hayek has been a force in Hollywood for over 30 years, a career that has taken her from her roots in Mexican television to the pinnacle of international stardom. Known for her charisma and comedic timing, she first turned heads in Teresa, a telenovela that made her a household name in Mexico. But Hayek wasn’t content to stay within borders and instead set her sights on Hollywood... and quickly made an impact.
Her breakout role came in 1995 with Desperado, opposite Antonio Banderas, which established her as a bona fide action star.
She cemented her reputation as a versatile actress with Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), working alongside the likes of George Clooney and Harvey Keitel, where her now-iconic snake dance scene showed her willingness to push boundaries, and certainly grabbed her more headlines.
But it was her portrayal of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in Frida (2002) that catapulted her into critical acclaim, earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress – a first for a Mexican actress in that category.
Since then, Hayek has seamlessly balanced blockbusters and smaller, personal projects. She’s lent her voice to animated hits like Puss in Boots and starred in comedies such as Grown Ups and Like a Boss, proving her ability to thrive across genres. Alongside these projects, she has taken on producing roles, including as executive producer of Ugly Betty, a series that opened doors for greater Latina representation on television.
A few years ago, Salma made this video about her looks for Vogue:
At 58, Hayek continues to defy expectations, both in her career and in how she carries herself. She’s an outspoken advocate for women’s empowerment, using her platform to push for equality in Hollywood and beyond. While many actors fade from the spotlight with time, Hayek remains as relevant as ever, drawing admiration for her talent, authenticity, and ageless elegance. As you can see from the images and videos over her career.
