Despite being rejected by several modeling agencies early in her career, Tyra Banks is one of the most well-known models and her impact has been felt for decades.
She closed the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which returned for the first time after it stopped being held in 2018.
Tyra Lynne Banks was born on December 4, 1973 in Inglewood, California, and turns 51 this year. In addition to being a model, she is a well-known television personality, producer, writer and actress. She began her career in the modeling industry at an early age and despite the many rejections she received early on, she managed to eventually make history.
She was the first African-American woman to appear on the covers of GQ and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, in which she appeared three times. She was one of the few black models to achieve supermodel status and be one of the highest paid. This is what Tyra Banks looked like in 1998.

Banks is also known for hosting “America’s Next Top Model”, which she also executive produced. She was the co-creator of “True Beauty” and “The Tyra Banks Show”, for which she won two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Informational Talk Show.
She has also hosted America’s Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars in its 29th season, and also served as an executive producer.
In addition to her career as a model, actress and host, Banks published a novel entitled Modelland, based on her life as a model. She has her own production company, Bankable Productions. This is what Tyra Banks looks like today.
