Were Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn close to buying a mansion prior to their breakup?
No longer together, it seems Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn were set for a big move prior to news of their breakup.
Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have called off their relationship after six years, with news now emerging that the couple were set for some big changes prior to their split.
Were Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn close to buying a mansion prior to their breakup?
According to the Sun on Sunday, Swift and Alwyn were in the process of buying a seven bedroom £8.3million home in Belsize Park, North London.
The couple had their bid accepted on the Grade II listed luxury mansion, with Land Registry records showing it still appears subject to completion, making it unclear whether Swift or Alwyn will move into the house.
The report states that Swift was seen in London last October around the time the property was taken off the market, and that neighbors were aware the couple were interested in purchasing it.
“I don’t know if anyone has seen them looking at the house but several living here have told me they’re buying it,” said one resident.
Swift and Alwyn previously rented a property in Primrose Hill, which is nearby, though they spent much of lockdown in the actor’s apartment, which is located four miles away in Crouch End.
The £8.3million mansion is described as an “exceptional period house’ with an “enchanting garden” according to estate agent Savills.
Swift seemingly confirmed split at recent show
News of Swift and Alwyn’s reported purchase comes after the singer wrapped up a trio of shows for her ‘Eras Tour’ at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida over the weekend.
Although the singer never directly addressed the news of her breakup, she did open Thursday’s show by asking the crowd: “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?”
She also offered a brief explanation before performing ‘Lover’, a song about being in love, before Friday’s performance.
“Some of these may be songs that started being written about my life or something that I felt at one point…but when you sing them tonight they will be about you and your life,” she explained before singing,” she said.
Swift also changed the song she uses when leaving the stage for a costume change. She previously used ‘Everything Has Changed’, a song about being in a happy relationship, but changed it to ‘Holy Ground’, which is about looking back at past failed relationships.
She also made changes to her rule for surprise songs on the ‘Eras Tour’ by adding a caveat to what she previously announced while performing in Arizona.
