Chappell Roan has responded after Jorginho publicly criticized her following an alleged incident involving his family at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil.
The Flamengo midfielder claimed over the weekend that a member of the singer’s security team spoke “in an extremely aggressive manner” to his wife and 11-year-old stepdaughter, leaving the child “extremely shaken” and in tears.

Now, Roan has shared her side of the story.
Chappell Roan says she “did not deserve” backlash
In a video posted to social media, Roan said she was unaware of the interaction at the time and insisted she was not involved in any confrontation.
“I didn’t even see a woman and a child,” she said. “No one came up to me, no one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel.”
Roan added that the security guard in question was not her personal hire and that she did not ask anyone to approach Jorginho’s family.
“I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child,” she said.

While distancing herself from the situation, the singer also expressed sympathy for those involved.
“I’m sorry to the mother and child… if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad,” Roan said. “You did not deserve that.”
She also addressed the criticism directed at her online, adding: “I do not hate people who are fans of my music… that is crazy.”
What Jorginho said about the incident
Jorginho, who previously played in the Premier League before joining Flamengo, initially shared his frustration on Instagram, calling out what he described as inappropriate behavior toward his family.
He said his stepdaughter was left visibly upset after the encounter and criticized Roan more broadly, suggesting she should show more appreciation toward fans.
“Without your fans, you would be nothing,” he wrote.
