What Harry and Meghan want from King Charles’ Coronation
The Sussexes want to participate in a ‘special family moment’ with the other royals
With King Charles’ coronation fast approaching on April 6, all eyes are turned toward the royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently expressed their wishes of participating in special family traditions at the ceremony.
Harry and Meghan are invited to join at Westminster Abbey for Prince Charles’ coronation, which coincidentally falls on Prince Archie’s fourth birthday. The couple has not yet confirmed if they will be attending, but they have expressed a desire to be included in some special, symbolic moments with the rest of the family.
According to DailyMail, the Sussexes wish to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the coronation takes place. This appearance is typically limited to working royals.
Since the couple is no longer working royals, whether they will make an appearance on the balcony with other members of the royal family is unconfirmed. They did not appear on the balcony at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee last year.
Harry and Megan hope their children can spend more time with the royal family
Since King Charles’ coronation falls on the same day as Prince Archie’s birthday, the Sussexes are hoping that their son will be in some way highlighted during the celebrations.
Should Harry and Meghan attend with their two children, it will be the first time the children meet the other royals since Princess Lilibet’s christening invoked her right to use the title ‘Princess’. The Sussexes did not want to deny their children their birthright titles.
Family members close in age
Living an ocean apart, the couple is hoping that this coronation will provide their children the opportunity to spend more time with the other royal children.
The Sussexes hinted to anonymous sources for OK! Magazine that they want their children to foster a relationship with their relatives, especially since Princess Eugenie’s son August is similar in age to Princess Lilibet.
