Kate Middleton made a fun visit to the Oxford House Nursing Home in Slough to make pancakes for residents with the chefs at the nursing home.

Though she failed at the cooking part miserably, the princess laughed as she broke eggs and flipped crumbling pancakes. Between making pancakes and chatting with residents, Princess Kate showed the candid side of her personality, and made some new friends along the way.

Kate’s go-to dish

While chatting with a centurion fan during the visit, Princess Kate realized that she and 109-year-old Nora shared a similar palette. Nora’s grandchildren, Lynne and John, were present to witness their grandmother swap kitchen secrets with the princess.

That’s when the Princess of Wales’ revealed that her preferred dish is kidney beans. Princess Kate asked Nora what her favorite food is.

“Kidneys and brussels sprouts,” the 109-year-old stated proudly.

“I love kidneys too!” the princess responded enthusiastically.

The pancake cook-off

Sky News reported that it was a fun-filled day and the Princess was hilarious and charming while flipping pancakes and meeting the elderly residents.

When Head Chef Anna Wright instructed Princess Kate to pour the pancake batter into the frying pan, she did so successfully — but when she was told to flip it once it browns to cook the other side, the pancake completely fell apart as she scraped the spatula across the bottom of the pan.

Yet, the princess persevered and managed to put the pancake back together enough to flip it over.

Definitely don’t eat this one,” Kate Middleton joked, displaying the failed pancake.

“Maybe the children won’t want to do pancakes,” she mused about the thought of cooking at home. “They would be like, ‘Mummy, we’ve seen you do it - no way’,” Middleton laughed.

The princess has a dessert preference too

Chef Rody Warot, of the Old Boot Inn in Stanford Dingley, England, said that the Princess of Wales would “often visit” the restaurant to sample her favorite dessert prepared by the chef himself.

Middleton ordered a wide variety of dishes at the restaurant, but her go-to was always the sticky toffee pudding.

It’s moist and spongy,” the chef touted about his concoction.

Meanwhile, Prince William enjoys a chocolate biscuit cake as his preferred afternoon tea snack.
